Deflazacort suspension is prescribed for treating inflammatory conditions, autoimmune disorders, allergic reactions, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and certain skin conditions. It is also used in muscular dystrophy, particularly Duchenne muscular dystrophy in children. Additionally, it helps manage conditions requiring immunosuppression and severe allergic reactions that do not respond to other treatments.

Deflazacort is a corticosteroid that works by suppressing the immune system and reducing the production of substances in the body that cause inflammation. It blocks multiple inflammatory pathways and prevents the release of chemicals responsible for swelling, redness, and pain. This action helps control various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, providing relief from symptoms and preventing disease progression.

Common side effects include increased appetite, weight gain, mood changes, difficulty sleeping, indigestion, and increased susceptibility to infections. Some patients may experience muscle weakness, bone thinning with long-term use, high blood sugar, or changes in skin appearance. Most side effects are mild and temporary. However, contact your doctor if you experience severe stomach pain, unusual bruising, vision changes, or signs of infection.

Shake the bottle well before each use. Measure the dose carefully using the measuring cup or dropper provided. Take this medicine with or after food to reduce stomach upset.
